A great ornamental varietywith dark purple foliage and stems, almost black with an occasional variegated growing tip of green, purple, and creamy white. The undersides of the leaves are green with purple venation. Bullet-shaped hot purple/black fruits measuring 1/2" wide by 1-1/4" high, are borne upright on compact 2 foot well-branched plants and turn to red when fully mature.
Excellent for spicy dishes and vinegars..
However from growing experience, whilst this makes a fine ornamental variety which gorgeous leaves and smart black pods, it isn't really suitable for culinary use. The pods have lots of seeds and are impractical for cooking - unless you infuse the pods in something such as a vinegrette.
